Free Crochet Pattern: Tranquil Morning Throw Blanket

|

The older I get, the more I really enjoy mornings. There is something about the peace and quiet of those early moments that helps me get my day started off right. I love curling up with a blanket and a warm beverage and simply…easing into the day. The Tranquil Morning Throw Blanket is the perfect companion to that early morning cup of coffee, a good book, or a sunrise enjoyed on the front porch. The open and solid sections create a great balance of technique and texture that are sure to help you savor the time before the busyness of the day begins, and it looks great thrown over the back of the couch or across the arm of a chair. And if you’re reading this and don’t share my same enthusiasm for mornings, no worries; this lightly textured crochet throw blanket is perfect to snuggle with in the evenings, too!

Tranquil Morning Throw Blanket

The Tranquil Morning Throw Blanket combines two very distinct styles into one gorgeous crochet throw blanket. One section is traditionally solid, and is created by combining simple stitches in a way that created subtle lines in this lightly textured blanket. The other section is more artistic and open, which gives the blanket a great visual appeal with both color and style.

The Yarn

Since some of the sections were open, I chose to use a bulky yarn instead of a light- or medium-weight yarn. Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek Chunky is a size 5 bulky-weight yarn, which ensured the blanket was still warm and snuggly even though not all sections were completely solid. This yarn also has great stitch definition too, so the texture in the solid section was really able to shine through.
