About me
Welcome to Measured and Stitched!
Hi! My name is Becky and I’m the crochet pattern designer and blogger at Measured and Stitched. I’m a wife, a dog mom, an aunt to four beautiful nieces, and a crochet enthusiast.
I believe that crochet is amazing; it is a way to keep your hands and brain busy while also making things for your home, yourself, and those that you love.
Crochet is also a way to connect people, both through the process of creating and the act of giving, and connection is part of what makes life wonderful.
My goal as a crochet pattern designer and blogger is to give you the tools to create that experience.
A little about me and my designs
I’m a country girl at heart, and the older I get, the more I find myself desiring a slower pace of life. In addition to crochet, I enjoy gardening, canning, cooking from scratch, and spending time with animals. I don’t get to do nearly as many of those things as often as I’d like, but I’m learning to make time for the things that soothe my soul.
My love for a traditional, country home shows through in my crochet designs. I naturally gravitate to earth tones when choosing yarn, and my designs balance stitch combinations and colors in such a way that the finished item is a functional way to add beauty to the everyday rhythm of life.
Crochet to learn and to relax
Crochet is also my favorite way to learn and relax. If I’m needing a way to challenge my mind, I find a new stitch to or technique to learn. If I’ve had a long day, or have a lot on my mind, I pull out my trusty project with an easy repeat and let my mind unwind while I stitch.
I also love to help others learn! I was a math teacher for a long time, so I love posting crochet stitch tutorials and including tutorial photos in my patterns.
