Mason Lake Placemat
The Mason Lake Placemat is made using a combination of single, half-double, and double crochet stitches, so it’s a perfect pattern for crocheters at almost all skill levels . It works up quickly, has a great texture, and is guaranteed to look great on your kitchen table! This stitch combination is possibly the least complex of the placemat series, but the finished project has an eye-catching look that will look great as an everyday placemat and have your friends and family complimenting your crochet skills.

190 yards, size 4 medium weight cotton yarn. I used 2 skeins of I Love This Cotton Print <3 oz/85 gm><153 yds/140 m> in the Denim Blue colorway to make 1 placemat.
US size H/8 crochet hook (5.00 mm)
Scissors, yarn needle

Gague
14 stitches x 11 rows = 4″ square
Pattern used for gauge: rows of hdc

Approximately 16″ w x 11.5″ h

How to make this Rustic Crochet Placemat
Part 1: Body
Ch 54
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in same ch, sk next ch, [1 sc and 1 dc in next ch, sk next ch] 25 times, sc in last ch, turn <27 sc, 26 dc>.
Row 2: ch 1, 1 sc and 1 dc in 1st st, sk next st, [1 sc and 1 dc in next st, sk next st] 25 times, sc in last st, turn <27 sc, 26 dc>.
Rows 3 – 8: repeat Row 2 6 times
Row 9: ch 1, hdc in 1st st, [sc in next st, hdc in next st] 26 times, turn <27 hdc, 26 sc>.
Row 10: ch 1, hdc in 1st st and in each st across, turn <53 hdc>.
Rows 11 – 12: repeat Row 10 2 times
Rows 13 – 20: Repeat Row 2 8 times

Row 21: Repeat Row 9
Rows 22 – 24: Repeat Row 10 3 times
Rows 25 – 32: Repeat Row 2 8 times
At the end of Row 32, do not turn and do not fasten off. Proceed to border.
Part 2: Border
Rotate 90 degrees.
Left: ch 1, 1 sc in end of each row, rotate 90 degrees, <32 sc>.
Bottom: 2 sc in bottom of 1st ch, 1 sc in each of next 51 chs, 2 sc in last ch, rotate 90 degrees <55 sc>.
Right: 1 sc in end of each row, rotate 90 degrees, <32 sc>.
Top: 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each of next 51 sts, 2 sc in last st, sl st in top of sc to join <55 sc>.
Fasten off. Weave in ends and block to desired dimensions.
