Farmhouse Lace Baby Blanket
When I first designed the Farmhouse Lace Throw Blanket, I never thought about making it in more than one size. I was just starting on my crochet design journey, and it just didn’t occur to me that someone might want to make a smaller version to give as a baby gift.
Over the last few years, the most common email request I’ve received has been to help someone resize this pattern to make it as a baby gift, so I set out to make it available to everyone!
While not directly mentioned in the pattern, the part of this design that makes the pattern a lacy crochet baby blanket is the Thistle Stitch. It is created using a combination of Shells made from double crochet and stitching in-between stitches from the previous row. This gorgeous stitch is highlighted by more solid sections, and the final result is a baby blanket that is ideal for newborn photos and still perfect for everyday use.
The Yarn
Since I used Lion Brand Heartland yarn to make the Farmhouse Lace Throw Blanket, I decided to use it for the baby blanket version as well. The yarn is so soft, and it has a rustic, farmhouse charm that fits this design perfectly.
I chose to use the Capitol Reef colorway because the shade of pink seemed perfect for a baby blanket. There are so many choices, though, that you can make a baby blanket to match any nursery theme!
