Homestead Charm Throw Blanket
The Homestead Charm Throw Blanket is made using mostly double crochet, single crochet, and chain stitches. The rows of clusters add a little bit of subtle texture to the solid sections, and the sections of split shells give an open, lacy look that make the blanket both eye-catching and cozy. This blanket definitely gives you all of the rustic, farmhouse vibes that make it a great companion for a porch swing and a book on a cool evening!
The Yarn
As soon as I decided to make another farmhouse-inspired design, I knew that Lion Brand Heartland is the yarn I would be using. I chose the Wolf Trap colorway for this design because I wanted a classic, light neutral color for the blanket. I think I made the right choice! The yarn texture is perfect for a cozy blanket, and the colorway really shows off the beautiful stitch combinations and highlights the overall farmhouse feel.

US size K/10.5 (6.50 mm) crochet hook

Pattern Notes
The ch 2 at the beginning of each row counts as 1 dc.
When counting stitches at the end of each row, the 6 dc and ch-2 space used to make the split shell will be counted as 1 split shell.

Row 1: dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across, turn <144 dc>.
Row 2: ch 2 (counts as 1 dc here and throughout), dc in next stand in each st across, turn <144 dc>.
Row 3: ch 2, 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, ch 1, sk next st, sc in next st,[ch 3, sk next 2 sts, sc in next st] 45 times, ch 1, sk next st, 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, dc in top of turning ch, turn <2 ch-1 sps, 6 dc,46 sc, 45 ch-3 sps>.
Row 4: ch 2, 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, sk ch-1 sp and next sc, [split shell in ch-3 sp, sk next sc, dc in next ch-3 sp, sk next sc] 22 times, split shell in next ch-3 sp, sk next sc, sk ch-1 sp, 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, 1 dc in top of turning ch, turn <28 dc, 23 split shells>.

Note: After completing Row 8, place a stitch marker in the ch-2 sp of the 12th split shell. In Row 9, you will place 2 sc in this ch-2 sp instead of 1 sc.

Rotate 90 degrees.
Top: ch 1, 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each of next 142 sts, 2 sc in top of turning ch, rotate 90 degrees <146 sc>.
Left: ch 1, 2 sc in end of each row, rotate 90 degrees, <174 sc>.
Bottom: 2 sc in bottom of 1st ch, 1 sc in each of next 142 chs, 2 sc in last ch, rotate 90 degrees <146 sc>.
Right: 2 sc in end of each row, sl st in top of sc to join <174 sc>.
Fasten off. Weave in ends and block to desired dimensions.
