Free Crochet Pattern: Mountainside Blooms Throw Blanket

If you’re looking for a crochet project full of texture, then you’re in the right place! I loved the Mountainside Blooms Baby Blanket so much that I designed the full size version – The Mountainside Blooms Throw Blanket – to continue the fun. Made with a combination of beautiful cluster v-stitches and rows of half-double crochet, this textured throw blanket is absolutely gorgeous. Keep scrolling to find out all of the pattern details!

Mountainside Blooms Throw Blanket

Using combinations of stitches is so much fun. I love seeing the change from one stitch to the other and watching the sections of the blanket come to life.

This textured blanket pattern uses half-double crochet stitches in-between rows of cluster v-stitches to create a throw blanket that is easy to make and cozy to snuggle with. The change between the stitches gives the look of “sections” within the project while still being one continuous project.

This pattern is easy enough for a confident beginner, but still interesting enough for a seasoned crocheter. The rows of half-double crochet keep the pattern interesting enough to keep it from feeling monotonous while still providing the relaxation that comes with making a throw blanket.

The Yarn

I went with Caron Jumbo Ombre again for this blanket because I just love it so much! It’s nice and soft, but still has great stitch definition, which is exactly what you want when you’re making a project using a textured stitch. I used this yarn to make the Mason Lake Baby Blanket and the Highland Falls Throw Blanket, and each time I’ve absolutely adored the project I’ve made.

I used the Seashell colorway for this design because I just couldn’t walk away from the shades of purple, but this blanket can be made with solid colors as well.
