Echo Cove Baby Blanket
I really enjoyed working with such simple stitches in a variety of ways to design this blanket. The Echo Cove Baby Blanket is worked in the round and uses only chains, double crochet, and single crochet stitches and stitch combos. I also utilized the technique of working only in the back loop on some rounds to give the blanket an occasional subtle ridge. If you are fairly new to crochet, this easy crochet pattern is a great way for you to try out working in the round!
The Yarn
I knew I wanted to use a size 3 cotton yarn for this project because I wanted the blanket to have a light, airy feel while still being durable. I chose Yarn Bee Sugarwheel Cotton yarn because it has a number of great colorways and is incredibly soft while still having durability. This yarn comes in solid-color cakes and self-striping cakes, which allowed me to use one colorway to create a striped look. I chose the Harbor Wish colorway, but there are a number of options that would look amazing with this design!

Crossed Double Crochet (crossed dc)
crossed dc – sk 1 st, dc in next st, dc in skipped st **
** In this stitch pattern, the dc are worked the same as usual. However, a st is skipped, and the 1st dc of the pair is worked in the next st. The 2nd dc of the pair is worked in the skipped st, causing them to be crossed.
A tutorial is available for this stitch: How to Crochet the Crossed Double Crochet Stitch
