Free Crochet Pattern: Acadia Trails Baby Blanket
Baby blankets are my favorite gift to give at baby showers. As soon as a friend or loved one shares the news of their upcoming arrival I am impatiently waiting to find out what colors and themes they are planning for the nursery. These details help me plan the perfect blanket that will be frequently used, well loved, and look absolutely stunning when it’s draped over the side of the crib. The Acadia Trails Baby Blanket combines the classic square blanket technique with fun textures, which makes it a great gift for any baby.

Acadia Trails Baby Blanket
When I began designing this blanket, I wanted to create something that used simple stitches and techniques, but had a more complex look. The Acadia Trails Baby Blanket is a square baby blanket made by working in rounds, and the alternating rounds of texture are created by using variations of the classic double crochet stitch. By working crossed double crochet stitches in one round, then working double crochet stitches in the back look in the next round, you get great visual intrigue and texture all in one pattern. While these variations may seem minor, they will help you make a show-stopping square baby blanket that will look great in any nursery! You can use the forest-themed colors described in the pattern, or change up the colors for a endless gifting opportunities.
