Easy Crossed Double Crochet Baby Blanket Pattern – Acadia Trails Baby Blanket
I love working with easy crochet patterns, which is why the entire Acadia Trails pattern line is made with a simple two-row repeat. This crossed double crochet baby blanket combines the crossed double crochet stitch with the classic square blanket construction technique. This incredible combination allows you to make a modern blanket that’s perfect for the arrival of a little one! Acadia Trails Baby Blanket
When I began designing this crossed double crochet baby blanket, I wanted to create something that used simple stitches and techniques, but had an interesting look. The Acadia Trails Baby Blanket is a square baby blanket made by working in rounds, and the alternating rounds of texture are created by using a variation of the classic double crochet stitch.
By working crossed double crochet stitches in one round, then working double crochet stitches in the back look in the next round, you get great visual intrigue and texture all in one pattern. While these variations may seem minor, they will help you make a show-stopping crossed double crochet baby blanket that looks great in any nursery! The colors I chose are great for a forest-themed nursery, but you can always change up the colors for a endless gifting opportunities.
The Yarn
Fining the perfect yarn is always part of the process of creating a new crochet pattern. In the original publication of this pattern, I chose Baby Bee Sweet Delight yarn because it was soft and lightweight, but still worked up really well. When I decided to update the pattern I used the same yarn line, but chose new colors. This pattern uses Baby Bee Sweet Delight in the Shamrock N Roll and Give Me The Moon colorways. The fun names are great, and the finished look is absolutely stunning. No matter what colors you choose, you’ll love the finished look of this crossed double crochet baby blanket.
