Warm Wishes Christmas Throw Blanket

Every time I design a Christmas throw blanket, I find myself wanting to use red, green, white. There’s something about the traditional Christmas color palate that makes the blanket truly feel seasonal. I also like to pair the traditional colors with a modern feel, so gray makes its way into the color mix. I’ve used this color combination in a variety of ways over the years, and the final project never disappoints.

Each strip of the Warm Wishes Christmas Throw Blanket is made using the same 6 rows. The easy repetition of rows keeps the project relaxing and gives you a sense of accomplishment every time you change colors! You’ll not only enjoy using this blanket once it’s finished, but you’ll enjoy the process of making it as well.

The Yarn

Size 4 yarn is my favorite for a crochet blanket. It’s thin enough that I can get great drape from the finished blanket, but thick enough that the finished project is warm and snuggly. For crochet blankets, that’s the perfect middle ground!

I’m definitely a creature of habit when it comes to yarn selection, but I did try out a new-to-me yarn for this project. I chose Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn, and the overall finished look and feel is exactly what I was looking for. The stitch definition is great, and the blanket is soft and warm. Since this is a Christmas throw blanket, I used the Graymist, Cranberry, Antique While, and Forest colorways for the striping. However, this striped crochet throw blanket can be made with any size 4 yarn in any combination of colors.
