Linked Half Double Crochet Blanket: Hickory Trail Lapghan
I love combining easy stitches to create great projects. And this one – it’s pretty great! The Willowbrook Lane Scarf features the v-stitch, and since the v-stitch is made of standard double crochet stitches, it’s a beginner-friendly way to add in a fun, decorative element to a project.
When I started designing the Hickory Trail Lapghan, I really wanted to try out a stitch I hadn’t used before. After looking through a lot of options, I settled on the linked half double crochet stitch. It had the great texture I was looking for, and I knew that it would make a good, solid fabric.
In order to show off the really cool texture created by the linked half double crochet stitch, I used alternating rows of single crochet worked in the front loop only. The really great lines it created gave the blanket a classic, textured look that is super easy to create. Add in some simple striping and you have a blanket that makes a great piece of decor while also being cozy and great for everyday use.
The Yarn
Since this blanket was meant to be a quick, cozy make, I chose my favorite a size 5 chunky weight yarn. Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek Chunky is a great fit becuase it has great stitch definition and is soft enough to make a finished project with great drape. I went with Light Gray for the main color and Olive for the coordinating color because I wanted it have more of a “neutral” look, but it will look amazing in any color combo that you choose.
