Cobblestone Creek Dishcloth
There are several reasons I love making dishcloths. First, they’re a great way to try new stitches. I make a small swatch using cotton yarn to try the stitch, and then use the swatch as a dishcloth! Secondly, dishcloths are a great way to get the “finished project” satisfaction. Blankets take a long time to finish, but I can finish a dishcloth in one sitting. Lastly, dishcloths are really practical. I absolutely love making something functional and pretty that has a direct use. I’m pretty sure I don’t own any store-bought dishcloths at this point!
The Cobblestone Creek Dishcloth is made almost entirely of sc2tog. This is a special stitch where two partial single crochet stitches are worked into one stitch. Using the sc2tog and followed by a ch-1 creates a really rich texture that is absolutely perfect for a dishcloth. A bold border made up of single crochet and half double crochet frame the dishcloth body and make this easy textured dishcloth great for everyday use.
The Yarn
My favorite cotton yarn is I Love This Cotton. It’s really soft while still having all of the wonderful benefits of cotton yarn, and it comes in a lot of great colors. Since it is being published in December, I chose the Burnt Sienna colorway to give it a holiday vibe, but it can definitely be made in any color or color combo! Dishcloths are a great stash-buster, so any cotton you have laying around would work for this project.
